WASHINGTON, DC –Democratic Leadership Project (DLP) announced today that every one of its endorsed candidates in Virginia won their elections last night, helping to deliver a decisive blue wave across the Commonwealth. DLP’s endorsed candidate for Lt. Governor, along with every non-incumbent candidate for the Virginia House of Delegates that DLP endorsed and financially supported, flipped their seats from red to blue.
DLP endorsed this slate of candidates in June, at a time when the political outlook remained uncertain. As final ballots continue to be counted, the victories are clear:
Lt. Governor of Virginia
- Ghazala Hashmi (D): 55% vs. John Reid (R): 44%
Virginia House of Delegates – Red-to-Blue Flips
- May Nivar (D): 55% vs. David Owen (R): 44%
- Elizabeth Guzman (D): 54.5% vs. Ian Lovejoy (R): 45%
- Kacey Carnegie (D): 54.2% vs. Mike Lamonea (R): 45%
- Jessica Anderson (D): 52.7% vs. Amanda Batten (R): 47%
- Leslie Mehta (D): 51.5% vs. Mark Early (R): 48%
The Democratic Leadership Project invested nearly $25,000 in the Virginia elections, supporting candidates who proved instrumental in reshaping the state’s political landscape.
