WASHINGTON, DC — On the fifth anniversary of the January 6 insurrection, the Democratic Leadership Project launched a digital billboard campaign across Washington, DC calling Donald Trump a traitor for his role in inciting the violent attack on the U.S. Capitol and attempting to overturn a free and fair election.

In addition to being near the White House, and other important federal buildings, the digital billboard was prominently displayed at the Capitol building, where convicted participants of January 6th were marching in commemoration of their betrayal to our country.

“January 6 was not a momentary lapse or a protest gone too far. It was an attempted coup encouraged and enabled by Donald Trump,” said the Democratic Leadership Project. “Five years later, accountability still matters. Democracy still matters. And the truth still matters.”

The campaign comes as Trump continues to seek political power despite extensive evidence, bipartisan findings, and criminal indictments related to his efforts to overturn the 2020 election. The Democratic Leadership Project says the billboard effort is designed to ensure that the events of January 6 are neither forgotten nor rewritten.
